Super League: Leeds Rhinos, St Helens win big over Wakefield Trinity, York Knights to remain level at top of the league

Maika Sivo scored a hat-trick as Leeds Rhinos strengthened their position at the top of Super League with a 40-22 win over Wakefield Trinity at Headingley.

Jake Connor, who kicked 16 points and played a direct role in four of his side's tries, made the difference in a match that saw the Rhinos briefly reduced to 11 men early in the second half after Sivo and Ash Handley were both sin-binned.

But Sivo will again steal the headlines after soaring away at the top of this season's try-scoring chart with 17 now to his name as Brad Arthur's men look increasingly strong contenders for the League Leaders' Shield.

The result was overshadowed by a fifth-minute incident that saw Wakefield centre Cameron Scott stretchered from the pitch after lengthy on-pitch treatment.

Scott appeared to be knocked unconscious in an innocuous clash with Rhinos prop Keenan Palasia and the match was held up for just under a quarter of an hour as a result.

St Helens remain on the heels of Super League leaders Leeds after a 40-16 win over York Knights at the BrewDog Stadium.

Bill Leyland put Saints ahead before Owen Dagnall dotted down twice as the hosts went 16-0 up, but the gap was cut to just six at the break, with Jesse Dee bagging a brace.

Alex Walmsley, Jack Welsby, Jake Davies and Nene Macdonald dashed over in the last quarter as Paul Rowley's side closed out a hard-fought win that keeps them second in the table, level on 14 points - after nine matches - with Leeds.
