Real Madrid transfer news: Vinicius Junior to stay at the Santiago Bernabeu beyond this summer despite Arsenal interest

Vinicius Junior will be staying at Real Madrid beyond this summer, Sky Sports News has been told.

The Spanish club have no intention of selling him and are confident he will agree a new contract.

This is despite the interest of Arsenal, who are monitoring his situation closely with a year remaining on his current deal.

New manager Jose Mourinho is understood to value Vinicius highly and wants him to remain one of his top Galacticos.

"Real Madrid are in a bit of a sticky situation because Vinicius Jr has only got one more year left on his contract. In six months from now, he could sign a pre-contract agreement with anyone outside of Spain. Then he could join any club for no money at all next summer.

“If you think about the valuation of the player, we think he is about £137m. That’s a large amount of money to forgo. However, they are confident he will sign that new deal.

“[The Diomande deal is] unaffected. I don’t think this has anything to do with Vinicius Jr at all. I suppose they may have used it to put pressure on Vinicius. He [Diomande] plays on both sides. There’s a situation where Yan Diomande can play on the right, Vinicius Jr signs his new contract and plays in his preferred position on the left, and Kylian Mbappe through the centre.
