Friday's County Championship saw England stalwart Joe Root struggle with Yorkshire under the pump, Nottinghamshire's Ben Duckett strike his third half-century in a row and Ollie Robinson score a huge 100 for Sussex.

Surrey, without a County Championship win at the Oval in nearly a year, were in the driving seat after Jordan Clark's five wickets on a green top but Fynn Hudson-Prentice (53) and Carson dug in.
