Adcock injury scare

The Brit, already on course to claim a mixed doubles spot at London 2012 with Imogen Bankier, also hopes to play alongside Andy Ellis at this summer's Games.

However, the world's 24th-ranked pair missed a final chance to claim ranking points as a leg injury forced Adcock to retire against Malaysia's Koo Kien Keat and Tan Boon Heong in New Delhi.

The duo, who trailed 21-9, 7-2 to the sixth seeds when they pulled out of the first-round match, now face an anxious wait.

They are guaranteed a rise in the rankings after winning European Championship bronze last week but, with no more points to play for, it remains to be seen if they have done enough.

In the women's singles event, Scotland's Susan Egelstaff was beaten 21-19 21-7 by Korean eighth seed Sung Ji-hyun.
